1. Cookies and browser storage
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser. Browser storage (localStorage and sessionStorage) works in a similar way, but the data stays on your device and is not sent to our server with every request.
litzbet uses a short list of first-party cookies and storage items. All of them are set by litzbet.be itself. None of them come from advertisers or other third parties.

3. Categories explained
Necessary
These items are needed for the site to work: logging in, keeping forms secure, remembering your age confirmation and cookie choice, holding your bet slip and running a reminder you asked for. They cannot be switched off in the cookie settings, because the site would not function properly without them.
Preferences
These remember choices that make the site more convenient, such as your favourite events when you are not logged in. They are used only if you allow this category.
Analytics
We currently set no analytics cookies. The category exists so that, if we add an anonymous, privacy-friendly measurement tool in the future, it will only run after you have given consent. We will update this page before any such tool is added.
No advertising or tracking. litzbet sets no third-party advertising cookies and no tracking cookies, and does not share browsing data with advertisers.
4. When we ask for consent
Under Belgian and European rules, cookies and storage that are strictly necessary for a service you have asked for can be used without consent. That covers the items marked "Necessary" in the table: without them you could not stay logged in, keep a bet slip or have your age confirmation remembered.
Everything else needs your permission first. On your first visit the cookie banner lets you accept or refuse the optional categories, and refusing is as easy as accepting. Until you make a choice, only necessary items are used.
Items kept in localStorage and sessionStorage stay on your device. They are not sent to our server with each page request, and we cannot read them from our side.
5. Changing your choice
You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page. Your new choice is saved in the cookie_consent cookie and applies straight away.
You can also delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you do, you will be logged out, your bet slip will be emptied and the cookie banner will appear again on your next visit. Most browsers also let you block cookies completely, but litzbet will not work correctly without the necessary ones.
